The 4th chakra, also know as the heart chakra or anahata chakra, is located at the heart center. It’s connected with the color green and is associated with love. The anahata chakra is the powerhouse of all chakras because of its position in the middle of the body, connecting the body and spirit. Because of this, the 4th chakra can determine the health, strength and balance of the body.
When the heart chakra is balanced, we have the power to forgive, love unconditionally and live in harmony with the divine power. You spread love to others, but also yourself. You know when you need to slow down and take time to do what your body and spirit need. Those able to live with a balanced heart chakra radiate love in all that they do.
A blocked heart chakra insists that we live with a false ideal of perfection. We live in a society where magazines, television shows, movies and pressure from our friends and family create self-imposed rules for our lives. When we are unable to live up to these expectations of perfection (whether it be in the form of appearance, career, hobbies, ect.), we subconsciously judge others, and ourselves closing the anahata chakra. The mottos, such as If I could just lose ten pounds, I will be loved or If I could get this promotion, then I will be successful are criticisms that close the heart chakra.
Opening the heart chakra requires that we forgive ourselves by accepting that life is not perfect. The fourth chakra teaches us that we must live in the present moment, fully accepting it as it is. It won’t always be calm, successful, abundant or perfect in anyway. When you are able to release the ideals and know that when things aren’t perfect that it’s okay, you open your heart. The love you give is the love you receive, so it is crucial to spend time practicing heart chakra healing to be more giving of love to yourself, others and each moment just as it is.
Physically, a blockage in the heart chakra is said to be linked to heart failure, asthma and allergies, lung cancer, upper back and shoulder pain, and breast cancer.
Using Crystals for Heart Chakra Healing: The anahata chakra stones we chose for this layout are raw emerald, fuchsite, rhodonite, chlorite phantom points, rose quartz and shungite. Emerald and shungite are particularly powerful in this layout, but feel free to chose any pink crystals or green gemstones that speak to you.
1 Fuchsite Stone: This stone brings powerful healing energies and encourages positivity, joyfulness, relaxation and miracles.
4 Raw Emerald Stones: Emerald has the ability to go deeper than any other stone for heart chakra healing. It brings us deep into our past ancestral lines and agreements that have been made with our soul that we need to cut from all dimensions of time. This is the most important stone to have out of all the heart chakra crystals.
2 Rhodonite Stones: Holding this stone brings forgiveness, compassion and releases fear. It can help with relationship problems.
2 Rose Quartz Stones: This stone opens your heart to all types of love, boosting your self-esteem, confidence and emotions. It is one of the best crystals for self-love.
4 Chlorite Phantom Points: This green phantom crystal facilitates the release of self-limiting thoughts and energy blockages.
4 Shungite Stones: Shungite neutralizes the energy that is brought up while healing the heart chakra. We want deep emotions and crying to come to the surface because that is the space in which we can heal. Shungite allows that space to stay safe and healing rather than become overwhelming.
Place your heart chakra healing stones in the grid formation shown in the picture below over your heart. If you don’t have anyone around to help you place the heart chakra stones, it may be easier to first lay the stones in the formation next to you and then transfer them over to your body. Once you have finished the grid, close your eyes and breath deeply, entering a meditative state.
Once you feel you have gained a better understanding of why the energy in your heart center is blocked, remover the heart chakra crystals and journal about what you gained from the meditation. Repeat this exercise, ideally for 21 days for a set amount of time. They key is commitment and consistency.
