Turmeric Smoothie to Fight Inflammation

Turmeric, the bright yellow spice of the rainbow, has been used in Chinese and Indian cultures for thousands of years as a medicinal herb. It is what gives curry its beautiful golden color. It is a natural anti-inflammatory, which is extremely important for our bodies. Inflammation helps the body fight foreign invaders, such as bacteria, and also plays a large told in repairing any damage in our bodies. It is full of antioxidants and extremely healthy. However, it is not a very easy ingredient to incorporate into our everyday diets.

Today, we came across a recipe on Mind Body Green for an Inflammation-Fighting Golden Turmeric Smoothie and just had to share it with you! It’s healthy, dairy-free and can be enjoyed at anytime during the day. Make this delicious smoothie in less than 5-minutes and enjoy the beneficial effects of turmeric all day long!


  • 1 cup unsweetened, plain coconut milk (can substitute almond, hemp or rice milk as well)
  • 3-4 ice cubes
  • 1/2 tsp. organic turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp. organic coconut oil
  • generous dash of vanilla
  • coconut sugar or maple syrup to taste
  • dash of cinnamon or nutmeg

Directions: Place all the ingredients into a blender and add the ice. Blend on high for 10-20 seconds until thoroughly mixed and the ice has been completely crushed. Pour into your favorite cup and sprinkle with your favorite spices for an extra kick. Enjoy!
