We tried this Orange Goji Berry smoothie recipe from Molly Sim‘s blog, and it was so delicious we had to share it! The recipe is originally from Superfood Smoothies by Julie Morris, and it is packed with nutrients and amazing health benefits. And we are all about tasty smoothies that leave you feeling reenergize, motivated and ready for the day.
Ingredients for the Orange Goji Berry Smoothie:
2 Tablespoons Hemp Seeds
1/3 cup Goji Berries
2 Oranges (peeled and chopped)
1 Frozen Banana
1/2 cup Coconut Water
1/4 cup Lime Juice
*if this smoothie is too tart for you, you can add a bit of Coconut Sugar. We did not use any when we made ours!
2 cups of ice (add this at the end after you have blended the ingredients above)
Hemp Seeds are packed with easily digestible proteins and contain all 10 essential amino acids, putting them among the rare plant-based foods that provide complete protein. They are abundant in omega-3s, fiber and other minerals including magnesium, iron, zinc, and potassium. We love to add hemp seeds to our smoothies, salads, soups or over yogurt.
Goji Berries are the most nutritionally dense fruit on the planet. They have been used for thousands of years in Tibet and China, for both nutritional value and medicinally. Goji Berry health benefits include containing all the essential amino acids, as well as having the highest concentration of protein of any fruit. They are also loaded with vitamin C and are very high in fiber. They have 15x the amount of iron found in spinach, as well as calcium, zinc, selenium and many other important minerals, making them a nutritional powerhouse superfood. This amazing little superfruit also contains natural anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal compounds. Their powerful antioxidant properties and polysaccharides help to boost the immune system. It’s no wonder then, that in traditional Chinese medicine they are renowned for increasing strength and longevity. From the Healthy Eating Site
