Mindful Habits to Adopt This Year

Mindful Habits to Adopt This Year

Not following through with New Year’s resolutions has become so common nature to us, that it’s essentially the last tradition to cap off the holiday season. While we love traditions, setting intentions that we have no intention of keeping is probably one tradition we can do without. Instead of making unrealistic testaments of all the dramatic behavioral shifts we’re going to make this year, why not implement simple mindful habits that we can actually stick to? Being healthy or mindful doesn’t have to mean waking up at 5 a.m. for your daily 5 mile run. You can get healthier just by getting in the habit of making your health a priority.

When you value your physical and mental health over 30 more minutes of T.V. or your adherence to old habits, then the investment of a little energy going toward your health and mindfulness doesn’t seem so daunting. Incorporating these mindful habits to be healthier in less than 10 minutes, will start you on the path of a more active lifestyle. Keeping your expectations measured allows you to avoid the pitfall of quitting when it turns out that radical life adjustments aren’t that easy to make in the span of a month or two. As you add more and more of these mindful habits into your daily routine, you can gradually progress to being even healthier.

3 Mindful Habits for 2018

1. Prep Your Meals for the Week

Adopt the concept of intentional eating! By preparing your meals ahead of time, you’ll be less tempted to skip making your own healthy lunch or dinner on the days that you’re rushed or tired. Taking a little time to make all of your lunches before the work week means not having to worry about making the healthy choice later—plus it’ll help you to save money on going out.

2. Start Your Morning Off Right with a Meditation

Before rushing off to get your morning coffee, nourish your body with a cup of hot water and lemon. This will stimulate your digestive system early, so that your metabolism has a head start on the rest of the day. It also gets you hydrated to give your skin that radiant, healthy glow. If you really want to give yourself a boost for the rest of the day, do a quick morning meditation. Just 10 minutes is all you need to focus your mind with attention to breath, and maintain a balanced perspective all day long. Try meditating with crystals to go even deeper.

3. Catch More Zzz’s

Getting enough sleep is probably going to be your favorite of these mindful habits on this list. As easy as it should be to get the suggested 8 hours of sleep each night, somehow, too many of us don’t. By going to bed earlier, we can use a variety of natural remedies to fall asleep fast. Sadly, that is easier said than done for many who are kept awake at night by anxiety or restless thoughts. Crystals like Amethyst, Selenite and Celestite are just some of the stones known for helping people get to sleep. Place one on your nightstand to encourage your mind to relax, and allow the purifying energy to soothe you to sleep.
